The Jazzer/Buzz base is a hybrid of a 1920s wonder tone and an AP&M Buzz mute. This unusual buzzy sound is created by the 4 thin plastic diaphragms located on the bottom of the mute. 
 
Please note: you need a modular straight mute to use this base.
